A unique brass mid 20th Century Venitian Gondola seahorse with a stepped plinth base.
The decorative elements of the Gondola are steeped in tradition, this sculptural figure forms part of the gunwale decoration of the passenger quarters.
The moving part of this piece would have a chain and then a cord to form an oar lock -  an ornamental cleat.
