A Silver Ducaton from the wreck of the Hollandia dated 1636 from the wreck of the Hollandia.

Hollandia was a ship of the Dutch East India Company (Dutch: Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie; VOC) which wrecked on Annet, Isles of Scilly on 13 July 1743 causing 276 fatalities. The wreck was discovered in 1971 by Rex Cowan, a London attorney.

A Spanish Netherlands Brabant minted during the reign of Philip 1111. (young head) Measures 43mm.

These coins would have been 'contraband' coinage taken on board by the rich merchants and perhaps the crew to privately trade without the Company's knowledge.

Comes with its Certificate of Authenticity.
