A very rare earthenware Royal Navy Mess plate. All the images show the imperfections.
The damage doesn't detract from the plates aesthetics as a whole.
The rim of the plate is decorated with trophies of war and a harbour scene, and the well with the Mess number 12, crossed flags, a foul anchor and an Union floral group containing roses, thistles and shamrock. 24.5cm diameter. Dates from 1850 - 1915. There is no stamp to the underside.
