A pair of continental silver bowls with Pillar dollars inset as the base.

The left hand scalloped edged bowl is marked '800 EG' denoting continental silver or silver alloy of 80% silver. The Pillar dollar is from the Spanish empire dated 1805 and from King Charles 1V reign.

The right hand circular bowl is also marked 'EG 800', is also from the Spanish empire, dated 1811 and marked 'FERDIN V11' - King Ferdinand V11.

Pillar dollars were also known in pirate folklore as 'Pieces of eight' as they were easily divided into eight pieces and used to trade with.

Bowls measure 6.5cm diameter x 1.75cm high approx.
