 An early 20th century compass binnacle by the makers 'E Dent & Co. London', as is etched on the compass edge and compass dial. Pattern number 182. Matching serial numbers to the brass screw top and compass of 2506. The compass is enclosed in a brass and mahogany housing with locking bar, bevelled glass and hinged turned wooden carry handle. The brass lid on top unscrews to view the compass from above. This compass went on to win the admiralty contract. No side light.

Measures 32cm high approx x 22cm square.
