An early 20th century compass binnacle by 'E DENT & Co LONDON' known in the trade as a Dent binnacle. Pattern number 182. With matching serial numbers to the brass top and compass edge of 2518. Engraved to the edge of the gimbal compass with the makers name. The compass is enclosed in a brass and mahogany housing with locking bar, bevelled glass and hinged turned wooden carry handle. The brass lid on top unscrews to view the compass from above. This compass went on to win the admiralty contract.
A side light will be added to this compass that we have in our 'Alladins cave' and the price will increase.
