An oak campaign chest unusually in one piece as opposed to two marked to the reverse with yard number 289 denoting the ship 'Scotsman'. This steel steam passenger ship was built in Belfast by Harland and Wolff on 13th December 1894 for Richard Mills & Co for the Dominion Line. and travelled at an average speed of 13 knots.Her weight was 1710grt and her actual dimensions 143.5m x 15m x 9.7m. She was wrecked in the Belle Isle Straits, Canada in 1899 with the loss of 13 lives.
In great condition throughout with brass accessories.
Measures 1m high, 95cm wide and 53cm deep.
