A commemorative copper panel depicting the Ark Royal, WW11, in an oak surround, recently polished.
Probably made by a Tiffy on board, exceptionally good quality work.
The panel has an oval cartouche to the centre with two crests to the bottom corners. It is titled 'HMS ARK ROYAL' with the ships crest below, a spitfire numbered L5243, possibly a Messerschmitt Bf 109 (help me out here!), the Ark Royal below, the sea and two dolphins flanking 'MEDITERANEAN MARCH 1940'. The bottom two corners have commemoratives to 'DARDANELLES 1915' and 'ARMADA 1588'.
Some restoration to the bottom left hand section of wood, this really is a stunning memorial to the ARK Royal or anyone with an affiliation.
Measures 69cm high x 55cm wide.
